Have you looked any further into your spark issue (or lack there of)? It seems that the pick ups are pretty bullet proof as I have not read many people having trouble with that, so my best GUESS would be the CDI box. I HATE just throwing parts at something, but with as cheap as a GM HEI module is, you may want to throw one on. Could well solve your problem, and it is a great upgrade.
