Modifying 1990 G2 muffler
I know some folks here have modified their G2 mufflers. I would be interested in more detailed descriptions of modifications made. There seems to be a standard train of thought the 4 cycle mufflers do not need much, if any, changes even after eliminating the air box, going with cone filters, and rejetting the carb. I was thinking of cutting out the exhaust pipe on the stock muffler and welding in a larger diameter pipe to eliminate that restriction. What say you, gentlemen?

I did just that, increased the diameter of the tailpipe, worked great and sounded good too.
Cut a window to completely remove the original small pipe. 100_0483.JPG 100_0487.JPG |

Ron, yes I saw a previous post in which you did that. I was thinking of following your example.

I did as NewGuy suggested. Cut the muffler open and removed the little 1/2 inch exhaust pipe. I used 1 inch emt (conduit). Worked out very well and sounds good. Good way to eliminate the exhaust restriction on the stock muffler.
