Re: Cleaning up a gremlin
Little update. Put in new fuel pump, ign coil, wire n plug, and new carb. Still no fuel coming through. Lines blow through. So im not getting pressure to fuel pump im guessing.
So do i buy the complete eng kit with new bearings and crank. Or just the piston ring kit. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

Re: Cleaning up a gremlin
You did a compression test, and are only getting 30 psi? That's bad. I wouldn't buy anything until I took it apart to determine exactly what I needed.
You also still need crankshaft seals. That's why it isn't pumping fuel. |

Re: Cleaning up a gremlin
As always CA's advice above is the best, But if I may add my 2 cents .....
If your torn between just a new top end 'vs' a complete rebuild kit I suggest doing it all, You'll want to do crank seals anyway and then hope the 30 year old crank bearings are ok. If they're worn at all they'll take out the new seals quickly and you'll be tearing it apart again, And when you're at the point of replacing the seals you're only one step away from spitting the case. Parts are relatively cheap for these buggy's and it doesn't cost very much more for a complete kit, You'll get a brand new crank with all 4 new bearings. I just did my 85, It still had 115lbs compression but the crank bearings were shot. Here's a link to the thread on it...Good Luck http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...e-rebuild.html |
