02 txt engine replacement
I ordered a 375 from ct rebuilds, just wondering what all I should replace when it comes in.. plugs, air filter, fuel filter, starter belt? I’ve thought a shorter drive belt would be good. Is there a good place to buy a complete kit? Saw some that included carb, fuel pump, oil filter.. are those generally replaced as well??

Re: 02 txt engine replacement
Another question, it has a drop axle lift, but barely clears 22-11x8... should I add spindles? A new drop axle lift?

Re: 02 txt engine replacement
A lot depends on what You had for an engine, if it was a 295 You will need to replace the carb with one from a 350 and *optionally* rejet it a little bigger to get the most out of the motor (although it will run just fine with a stock 350 carb). As to plugs and filters, I would - it's a good idea to swap them all every year as part of routine maintenence anyhow so with a brand new motor I would definitely do it. As to belts, that depends on the condition of your starter belt, if it's a couple of years old I'd replace it, as to the shorter drive belt the answer is YES YES YES and You might want to swap your driven clutch to a 28 degree, between tose 2 mods You can't spend better money to get a HUGE increase in torque without affecting top end speed.
The engines ship dry from CT, don't forget to fill the oil before You turn it over !!! Lift kits are lift kits unless You go "Long Travel" - neither spindles nor drop-axle kits do anything to increase handling or suspension other than "lift" - a LT kit will give You MUCH better handling as well as the ability to do much more off-roading (albeit at a higher cost) ... "Barely Clears" is a lot different than "Binds or Rubs" - if You have those issues i would go with a LT kit, you will NOT be sorry. |

Re: 02 txt engine replacement
CT says it a 295 with 350 piston and other work.. was told 295 carb would work.. if I need the 350 carb is as simple as remove & replace??
The reason I say barely fit is my cart has the stuffed look with 22-11x8 but my step dads beast towers over 23’s with a spindle lift.. |

Re: 02 txt engine replacement
I have always put 350 carbs on the 375's (and I've probably installed well over a dozen of them) - the more displacement, the more fuel and air You want to flow to be able to utilize it (think guys who build a Chevy 350, they don't leave the GM "Quadrajunk" carb on there, they toss on a Holley or ? to take advantage of the build). The good news is that an aftermarket 350 carb will run You around $30-40 to your door and is an easy swap, maybe 20min if You've never done it before (although with the aftermarket carbs *or even new OEM carbs*, it's a good idea to break them down and clean them out prior to use, as they tend to have manufacturing gunk and residue in them that keeps them from flowing and working correctly right out of the box) ...
As to the lift, if You're not rubbing and You don't plan on any serious off-road use, the only need to change would be to get a bigger "look" - if You plan on hitting the woods, rough trails, plowed-up fields, etc then the LT will give Your suspension the added strength and capability to do it safely and easily. Plus, LOL it'll make your Dads cart look like the "Barbie Dream Cart" - the stance and appearance of the LT is a **** cool, intimidating look hahahaha. Seriously, if the budget allows, I'd at very least do the carb and new filters, you're going to utilize a LOT more of that motors capability with the 350 carb. |

I’d love the LT kit, but that’s not in the budget right now...looks like I need to replace the front leaf springs.. the driver side is sagging.. |

Re: 02 txt engine replacement
It could be a drop axle lift on there but it isn't very tall. I have seen advertised 3" 4" and 5" drop axle lifts. Yours is definitely not a 5" lift kit. Your tires are 23" and my cart has 22" but there is a world of difference in the amount of fender clearance in the two. Your tires only take up an additional 1/2" of fender space. Mine is a '96 but the only real difference is in how the steering gear attaches.

Re: 02 txt engine replacement
Grayson,
Have you received and installed that 375 from CT Rebuilds yet? Curious what you think of it. |

I have, ive run about 3-5 gallons of gas on it so far.. runs good, I want to add the larger carb soon, and I have a small oil leak that I have to find.. looks like it’s the timing cover leaking..

Re: 02 txt engine replacement
Good to hear. Probably too early to tell the difference in how it pulls a load since it is so fresh. Have you gotten a seat of the pants feel for the extra hp?
