Default Gas cap question

Hello to you all!
This is probably a stupid question but the cart is about to be used at the campground and it dawned on me ....
My 30 year old Yamaha g2 does not have a gas compartment flap .
I haven’t been able to find a replacement and it didn’t bother me not to have one .
The question is will the gas cap which is stock and probably has a breather built in allow rain water into my tank?
Rain will hit it as it is not covered .
If you think this will be a problem I will jury rig something as a makeshift flap .
I’m wondering if any of you have he missing flap and have ever had problems ??
Thank you in advance.
Chris

Cap isn't vented there's a one way vent on the top of the tank if you're ok with no fuel door I wouldn't worry about it

Correct G2 gas cap does have a check ball in it, and I would fashion a flap.

Thx Ron,
But it’s actually the flap that is on a hinge I need .
The cap seems to be working fine .
But the guys say it will allow water into the tank if it is left exposed .

Does nobody believe in duck tape anymore? If there's a big hole that needs covered, duck it. if you can't duck it...
