Default Aftermarket performance carb for 1990 Yamaha G2?

On my 1990 Yamaha G2 went you try to slowly depress the gas petal it would accelerate quickly not gradually increase speed like normally does but once it running at full speed, it runs normal.

I took the air filter off thinking it may be clogged and saw gas leaking out of the carb so I suspect the float seal is worned out.

Is there an aftermarket performance carb for the 1990 Yamaha G2 or I should try to get a same carb replacement or rebuilt the one I have on now?

Any feedback are welcomed, thank you!

Oddly enough I have never see someone adapt a mikuni VM to one of these engines. That would open a whole world of tuning options BUT the linkage would take some doing. They are used all over the place on vehicles with similar displacement. Maybe if I would have stayed with the stocker in my G 14 we would know.

Rebuilding the OEM carb, with OEM parts would be best...Probably only need the needle valve and bowl gasket. Don't buy a $20 carb.

Looked at the site and it seem none of those parts are available online for purchase. Know any other site that sell those parts or at least hava rebuilt kits for this carb?

Thank you

Never mind it's for the G16 ... I am aware of the 20 dollar carbs on Amazon and to avoid those but what about the carbs on golf carts online stores like this one

https://discountcartparts.com/dcp/ya...ors/17554.html

Are they similar to the 20 dollar carbs and should be avoided too?

Only use an OEM yamaha carb.

If you can't find the seals for yours, it's no big deal. Buy the $18 Amazon/Ebay carb and use the seals/gaskets from it. Clean your OEM carb really well, I use a q-tip in a drill with a bit of gasoline on it to clean out the needle seat. blow it all out with compressed air. Use the gaskets from the china carb. An o-ring is an o-ring. As long as it seals and doesn't leak, you'll be fine. I would avoid using most other parts off the china carb though.

When I rebuilt the carb on my G9 the plastic linkage at the top of the carb was rotted and broken. I took a china carb apart and swapped the plastic over to my OEM carb and that worked fine too. I only used the plastic part though, not the rest of the butterfly or anything.

China carbs CAN be useful for stuff like that. But actually installing one... I'd highly recommend against it. Seldom do they ever work out positively for the cart

The real Yamaha carb retails for $233, so there is no way this carb is genuine. I work at a Yamaha dealer, and know what the markups are, and I can assure you that we can't get them for $80 & mark them up to $233.

Just do the needle valve, and move on with life.

They are all the same junk chinese "Mokini" carb. Except some websites and ebay sellers mark the price up to $50-60 to make you "think" you are getting something that's better than the $20 carb. It's all customer perception of the uneducated buyer.
