Default Yamaha Drive Down on Power

I have I think a 2011 or 2012 Yamaha Drive GAS golf cart that I have been having some problems with. Picked it up from a place that sold carts off the golf course. First of all I use this cart to push my drag car at the track. I have had it going on 2 years now. Other then a broken throttle cable all has been good. It has a yellow spring to help with pushing the car. I adjusted the governor and it ran over 20mph, I rarely went that fast.

Beginning of the year I started to have a problem that progressively got worse. You would floor the car and it would seem like you were only getting about 1/2 throttle if that. Strange part is if you let off and hit it again it would kind of sputter and rev like it was supposed to. This has gotten worse to where it rarely runs with any power no matter how many time you let on and off the gas. So instead of full throttle and 20mph I feel like i am getting less then half and not even 10mph. I have been super busy working on the car and haven't had a chance to really mess with it. Wanted to jump on here to see if anyone else had this problem and it was a simple solution before I took it to the shop. Thanks

Default Re: Yamaha Drive Down on Power

id start with the basics

air filter
fuel filter
spark plug

check the vac line going from fuel pump to crankcase. Frequent short trips will cause sludge to build in that line, thus removing the vac you need to pull fuel into the filter

make sure your battery is good and connections are tight. I had similiar issue on my 2007 drive

Turned out the battery connections were loose, and the vac line was slightly plugged.

New lines are cheap, filters are cheap. Start there.

Id strongly suggest running ethanol free fuel in them. Ethanol sucks for carbs, you may have a blockage or buildup in the carb
