Good question. I'd like to know too. I just ordered the service manual so if ican find that info when I get it, I will post it here.

Just ordered a tiny tach too.

I got a questions about the speed you guys are reporting.

I have a 2010 ST express (13hp Kawi). It would normally cruise around 20.7/21.3 mphs (23" tires), i zip-tied the throttle spring which gave it a lot more.

It cruises really smooth at 24-25mph, but once i get to 26/27 the valves start to rattle. So i back off.. some of you were reporting 28-29, but were the the valves singing?

Also, some of you have a tach on your carts, do you have a link for where to get one and how to connect?

Thanks!

Yes yes and yes. LOL.

Mine didn't sound so good, so I backed it down. I was afraid I'd blow it up, although they seem to hold together even when rattling. Once again, your mileage may vary.

I read somewhere right at 4000 rpm is about the max for that motor. Another issue are the plastic governor weights used in the transaxle.. They come apart and bad things happen.. Tiny Tach just has a sensor wire you wrap around the spark plug boot.. Simple

thanks for the info..

I gained my speed by using a zip-tie on the throttle spring, I will loose it a bit and see if i can get it to stay around 23-24mph.

Is there the best way to by-bass the governor or an i causing more damage than good?

Thanks.

The parts of the governor that can go bad are internal to the rear and driven by the gears so disconnecting it won't get rid of that problem. I was able to adjust mine just by tightening the linkage with no zip ties. With 21 inch tires it would cruise low 20s no problem.
