Yamaha drive 6" lift body sway
Hey guys, just lifted my yamaha drive with a 6" a arm lift kit and went with 23"
Tires on 14" rims. Cart looks great. But isn't safe to drive anymore. When you drive down the road and get up to speed if you lightly turn the wheel the body will roll and the cart will dart, then when you correct it the body will sway the other way and it gets out of hand. If you don't let off the peddle and slow down it's almost like it will tip over. If you add riders on the back it's 10x worse. I did some searching and I purchased and installed the jakes heavy duty rear springs. They may have slightly helped. But it is still dangerous to drive. I have the toe set in about an 1/8" I understand the center of gravity is a lot higher. But everyone seems to use this combo and have upgrades to make them go faster with no issues. I really wish I wouldn't have went this big now. Maybe I am missing something? |

Re: Yamaha drive 6" lift body sway
I have heard of people filling a front bumper or steel tube on the front of drives and with concrete or lead to put some more weight on the front of the cart.

Re: Yamaha drive 6" lift body sway
It could possibly be the toe or camber settings. I just put a 4" a arm lift on top of a 4" frame lift and I don't have any sway.
But my cart tops out at 17mph. With a tall lift I don't want really high speeds. |

Re: Yamaha drive 6" lift body sway
Mine tops out at 15.5mph
The top of the tires seen to me cambered out a little. But when I moved them to the inside hole they were cambered way in. |

Re: Yamaha drive 6" lift body sway
I've had carts that needed toed in and others toed out some pretty much straight.. loosen your front end up and drive a little and keep adjusting until it gets better, I have a jakes LT and I do 40 mph and she is steady as can be, and by the way we call that the death wobble.. good luck and keep us updated..

I know what you mean by death wobble. My wife's uncle had a golf cart that literally made me afraid for my life. It had a 6" spindle lift, but some other stuff had to be out of whack. Any slight shake of the steering wheel would almost tip that thing. |

Re: Yamaha drive 6" lift body sway
Should the camber be straight up and down? I will try Messing with the toe in some more.
