Identify this suspension model
I bought a Japanese yamaha g17a golf cart (turf liner) can anyone cross reference the suspension. Im looking to see if the suspension is similar to any other models so i can order a lift for it front and back. Ill try to upload some pics this is my first time on here. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Identify this suspension model
The A-arms are round tube style like the G2. G9 uses a stamped square looking A-arm but both G2/G9 carts don't use racks in their steering system.
The back swing arm looks like it is the same as the regular G series carts. |

Re: Identify this suspension model
From what i found so far its a 1999 or 2000. I cant find anything on the suspension, im wondering what a custom fabricated suspension cost? Or is there any other options?

Re: Identify this suspension model
Can you pull the front wheel and take a couple of side view of the suspension/shock area?
From the looks of the rear track bar on the swing arm, I would say a $99.00 G14/16 4" econo lift would fit right on there with no or with very minimal alteration and that would just be where the tierods connect to the spindles, Everything else looks like it would be bolt up. That would get you room for some nice 22" tires. |

Thanks crash ill take some pics tomarrow. From what i remember the strut is attached directly to the spindle but ill take some pics. Im trying to see if i can find a bolt on long travel kit like the ones I've seen here in this forum like 6" or higher.

Re: Identify this suspension model
The rear, no problem, like Crash said. A drop mount for the upper shock mounts and a lowering plate for the panard bar. Now the front is unique, notice its a front steering rack assy and the shocks are more of a "strut" assy like on G5's. Front rack/link rod? That could cause some serious bumpsteer nightmeer's in the geometry equation (like all those miss spelled words guy's) No one I know makes a lift kit for this arrangement. I bet if you gave Crash larger, more detailed pix's of the front suspenssion he could figure out something, but it will need to be fabricated. Good luck on your build

Re: Identify this suspension model
heres some more pics ive started taking things apart. from what i found out on this cart it would drive itself with the push of those big red and green buttons on the steering wheel. i took the front plastics off and i found the electric steering motor. the gas peddle is drive by wire and the brake also has a big servo motor to activate it. the undercariga is full of magnets that follow the pre set cables underground the golf course. all useless i guess. i pulled most of the wire harness and computer out.
im still debating on the plans i have for this project. one is taking apart my raptor 660 i have for the engine rear axle and front suspension maybe the lights too. i realy dont use the quad anymore and i think the cart would be better to haul my kids around. my other option is shopping around for all those parts i mentioned but that would take me years due to money. any suggestions would be nice? |
