83 2 stroke battery keeps dying still...
I had my starter generator rebuilt and my battery still keeps dying after a few days so I jacked it up and used the multi meter while it was running and the meter wont give me a good reading. From what it looked like the reading was in the 18s. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 83 2 stroke battery keeps dying still...
Put the meter on the battery posts while running. !3.5- 14.5 volts is normal.
If just showing twelve volts or less, remove the green wire from your voltage regulator and ground it out. Voltage should jump all the way up to 19 volts at high speed. That would indicate a bad voltage regulator. If you really are showing 18 volts all the time, it would also indicate a bad regulator that probably cooked the battery. |
