Default New solenoid, need resistor/diode ?

I’m installing an SW180 200 amp solenoid from scottyb on an otherwise stock ‘07 G29. Are the resistor and/or diode necessary?

Ok, thanks. I’m grasping at straws trying to figure out my issue.

I just cant deal with every issue in PM, so please keep it in open forum unless necessary to do otherwise. And, not every issue can be instantly solved. Please, take it easy on my PM box (that is 95% full all the time). This thread (about diodes & resistors) is new, not a long-running thread. A new solenoid install is a deal that's fairly well "plug & play" on a YDRE, unless instructed otherwise. Sorry, not trying to be a jerk. I cant possibly handle every part install in PM, it's just not possible.

I'm pretty sure I didnt suggest a new solenoid, because the factory one is a pretty darn good one, (Trombetta "bear", 600a max, 225a continuous).

I want to make sure you know I really appreciate you, as well as anyone else who has helped me, putting in the time and effort. I’m a novice at this, my closest dealer/servicer = 3+ hour driving, and I prefer to do things myself when I can. This website has helped a ton over my years of cart ownership.

I bought and installed the solenoid for my cart before I ever posted about my problem. The way it acted when it died seemed like a solenoid problem to me, but apparently it wasn’t. It was installed to no avail several weeks ago. I recently remembered seeing the diode/resistor on Scottyb’s site, so I looked there to see if I should have installed them, but his site isn’t clear on when they’re required, so it got me wondering if that simple thing my have been my issue.

My PM to you wasn’t regarding this thread or the solenoid in particular. It was regarding the thread I created about diagnosing my overall issue. I posted an update a couple days ago in that thread and no one has responded, so I was hoping you could take a look at that. I thought the new development may clarify my issue, so I was hoping to maybe get some clarity.

Again. I really appreciate your help. I also realize you don’t get a dime for it, and have no obligation to respond. I apologize for the PM.
