Default Looking For Speed

Recently bought a 2006 club car precedent. Looking to get some more speed while not losing much torque. Currently set on Code 3. Dealer said on Code 4 I would gain speed but lose torque climbing hills. What is the best was to gain some speed and maintain torque? Would like to be able to go about 20mph+

Code 4 should give you close to the 20mph. The motor upgrade is not cheap. Spend the 70/90 $ for the code and try it out, I don't think you lose that much torque.

I have read that switching to 4 guage cables alone will help. Is this information accurate?

Larger cables will help torque, not speed. They allow more current flow in high amp draw situations (uphill, take off, etc). Carts do not draw a lot of amps at full speed.

yeah I have played with a few of these. With the stock controller, the larger cables really wont help much, as its only like a 285A controller(in that area). Its not putting out enough amperage to reallly have the larger cables help. Going to speed code 4 at a dealer will run you in the area of $100 and it will only get you to 19 MPH. Save that $100 and buy a different motor. There is a motor company out there with a motor that will cost you $300 ihcluding shipping and you will see a minimum of 22 MPH and get a noticeable increase in torque. Best of all on a Precedent, if you dont have a rear seat....the install of a motor takes all of 20 minutes thru the rear access panel. send me a private message and I will give you some info on the motor company as it's best for me not to go into detail about them on an open forum as per the site owners wishes, and I will take that into account.
