Default 2007 Club Car Precedent Battery Charge

I have a 48 volt 2007 Club Car Precedent with the OEM battery charger that came with the unit. The cart is charged every night at the golf course where I store it. My question is, should the key switch be turned to the on position or the off position when you charge it? Does it matter? For long term winter storage, should the key be left on or off. Also, can you charge a cart when the tow/run switch is in the tow position? Thanks.

Key switch in OFF position . . . run/tow in TOW position is safest way to protect electronics . . .

Not to be dense, but I assume from your reply that the batteries will properly charge independent of the key switch position or the tow/run switch position. I think our club charges the batteries with key switch off and tow/run in run position. I just got new batteries and want to do it right this time... Only got 5 years out of my original set with only moderate use. Thanks for your reply.

Correct . . batteries will charge regardless of keyswitch position or tow/run switch position . . . however, to protect the electronics, it is best to keep key off and in TOW position when charging . . . side note, when in TOW position there is no power at keyswitch . . .
