predator 420 and champion rockers
Hello all, i have a 01 ezgo workhorse with a 420 predator swap in it and the governor removed with hd valve springs, my question is, i got the champion style rockers from vegas carts and went to install them and my stock pushrods are too short, do i need to get the cut to length pushrods or can i buy the stock pushrods from champion engines? any help would be appreciated

Re: predator 420 and champion rockers
You have to get the Manton chromoly cut to length pushrods. Did you order them online? In the item description it says that the Manton pushrods are required. Just FYI.

Re: predator 420 and champion rockers
I cut mine with an air cut of tool to the same length as my old ones. The rockers have quite a bit of adjustment and everything worked fine.

I bought a push rod checker tool from summit racing for $12. That will allow you to test fit the rockers and change the pushrod length and get the length precise.

Re: predator 420 and champion rockers
Measure your stock pushrod and make sure you order the correct length tool. I accidentally got the wrong one the first time. Luckily I live 25 minutes from Summit Racing.
I measured mine with the tool, cut the new push rod with a cutoff wheel, cleaned up the burrs, used a block of wood and a 3 lb sledge to tap the new end in. Done in like 15 min. Worked great. Are your rockers the billet steel ones? |

Re: predator 420 and champion rockers
i got the champion shaft style rockers, i am trying to quiet down the valve train noise and i thought that they would be quieter operation, i have adjusted my valves multiple times with different specs and the noise is still there, i got them set to .003 intake and exhaust now and the noise is quieter then its ever been but it still there when im cruising my campground

Re: predator 420 and champion rockers
Mine was sounding like that turned out the generator was loose and the clone was no louder than the stock engine, save for the exhaust.
