Four revolutions were used for averaging, but I repeated the test about a half dozen times, I simply couldn't believe it when it worked out to 17" tall tires.

That is also why I broke out the yardstick and level.

(I was actually spinning the motor close to 7k instead of 6.5k, and Vic was questioning me spinning it at 6.5k at 42V. )

BTW: Ambient temp was 74°F and inflation pressure was 22 PSI.

the reason why I am asking all this is cause I have a chance to get that 6hp GE motor and a whole rear end with the 6:1 gears in it already for $600 . so I am seeing if it is wroth me getting this to bring up my speed and have fun in the neighborhood . I really don't need all the torque

I think that is roughly the same motor as Sir Nuke and Yurtle are running. Give them a yell, they'd know more about its performance.

That sound like a good price for the Motor and rear end.

Hey dude.....here is the spec of ours.....

RAPTOR SPECS.jpg

as you can see on my SIG....I'm still at 36v, and running 23" tires and the stock rear end.....and a SPM 485 (500 amp) controller and run 27 mph all day long. granted its not all that quick out of the hole....but then again that is mostly because I'm still running 36v.....I am almost certain yurtle is running 48v.

but like Johnnie mentioned.....if you take a motor built for speed (which ours is) and boog it down by putting 6:1 gears in it (right at a 2x).....your torque is REALLY going to suffer......you may to get started by pushing.....but once you got her rolling she will fly! LOL

BUT bottom line.....I went from creeping along at about 13 mph up to 27 mph.....and LOVE IT. had I not invested or researched 48v at the beginning.....I would have gone that direction, done a 8 under the seat set-up and a reversing contactor set up. which is when its time.....I will do, then I will really let her lose!!
