Default 09 Precedent

Long time no chat! Hope all is going well for you all. I have a club car that has quit on me aout 4 times in the last three months. Each time, what happens is after driving and getting the engine warm (about 3 miles), I stop then after a few minutes when I go to start again the only thing that happens is a relay clicks in the forward cubby area, but otherwise nothing else happens. It eventually will start and run again, but the time to get it going again varies widely. Do I have a problem with my rev limiter?

Thank you!!!!
Bob

When you say a relay clicks in the forward cubby and nothing else happens, I assume you mean the engine will not turn over, that the starter is not engaging. If that is the case, more likely the problem is with the microswitches either in the FNR switch or in the electrical box by the engine - nothing to do with the rev limiter. You have to measure the voltage in the small lead at the solenoid to see if you are getting 12V when you press the gas pedal to check the switches. If you get 12V, the solenoid could be bad. To check the solenoid, jump from the battery to the low current 12V terminal on the solenoid and see if the starter engages. or jump the 2 large terminals on the solenoid with a heavy wrench or similar and see if the starter engages.
Or, if the engine is turning over when you step on the pedal, you could have a bad coil, sometimes they fail when warm or hot.
Also to help narrow down the problem, when you stop, leave the FNR switch in the F position (do not put it into N), and see if it starts when you push the pedal. If it always starts like that, the problem may be in one of those 2 microswitches.
