Charging
this may have been asked here before but can you use a car battery charger to charge an 8 volt battery

Not very safely. You need to "babysit" the battery voltage and you could damage the charger.

The answer is yes but only to get it up high enough for a regular charger to kick in. A 12V charger will damage the battery if you leave it on too long.
