Re: "New to me" cart purchase with no batteries
After all the time and money you are going to spend to change to 48 volts if it was me and knowing you want the cart for the whole family, just buy a 48volt cart and forget all the fuss. $500 seems cheap at first but your plans seem like they will cost more in the long run than just buying a 48volt cart from the get-go...just my opinion if I were in your shoes

Re: "New to me" cart purchase with no batteries
From what I see many people on the forum take their 36 volt cart up to 48 volts and do all the work to do the conversion because they have already built their dream cart and want to keep it for that reason but want more power. You are starting all over with a new build. Might as well find a good 48 volt Cart for $1500 or so and start your build from there. Figure $500 for the 36 volt cart, $750 for batteries, $350 for charger and $150 or so for upgrades of other electronics and you're already past the cost of a 48 volt cart.

Re: "New to me" cart purchase with no batteries
Might be best to start with 48v. Avoid the Club Car OBC hassles. Just my opinion..

Re: "New to me" cart purchase with no batteries
here's what I spent on my 96 ezgo sepex cart free
8volt batteries special deal from park manager $500.00 48v charger dpi accu sense $300.00 400amp controller and solenoid $485.00 new 8 hp motor $700.00 2gauge welding cables built them myself about $125.00 ausco disc brakes $280.00 10 inch wheels clearance for disc brakes $100.00 205 65 10 tires $130.00 not including tax total $2615.00 as you can see parts prices add up quick those prices are off the top of my head and may be off a bit the reason I went with disc brakes is the cart will do over 35 mph hope this helps in your decision |
