97 Club Car 48v not charging
I am working on the father-in-laws 97 Club Car 48v cart. When I got it to work on I was told that it would not charge. After going through it I found that they had put the wrong solenoid on it from the main positive, now replaced. The charging port small grey cable was disconnected in the port, now replaced. The coil for the regen 1 system was getting very hot just driving it on level ground, so I eliminated the second solenoid and coil all together per instructions found on here, thank you, gave me about 3x more power. They changed the batteries from the 6 8v to 4 12v marine batteries because the 8v were bad, I know, not the way you want to go. My issue now is that when I plug in the charger it is only registering 2 to 3 amps whether the cart is fully charged or nearly dead. I left the charger on for over 24hrs with no difference in individual battery voltage coming up. Any ideas on where I went wrong or missed something? TYI

Re: 97 Club Car 48v not charging
Main negative cable not going through the hole in the obc. Correct that and it should charge normal. Those batteries are not going to do very well even when charged.

Thx for the reply mrgolf, Main neg is going through the hole as it should, and yes I told them that was a bad move on the batteries. What next?

I don't think your cart will have a tow run switch. To reset the obc read the sticky at top of page it tells how to reset the obc.
There should be a fuse in that gray wire also. Check it. |

Re: 97 Club Car 48v not charging
fuse is good, read the sticky, it looks like the 97 is a morph between the series and the serpex. I have the black t shaped controller, no tow run switch, rocker switch for reverse and forward, so now? Push it ito the pond lol?

Unhook the main negative battery cable for 10-15 minutes.
