Default Need a switch between 36V & 48V for voltage meter

I have built a portable electric fan that I can use on any cart going through a voltage reducer. The voltage reducer works on both 36 and 48 volts with no modification. I have a voltage meter gauge that I was hoping I could just use the reduced 12V to the (C)common tab, but that did not work. So when I go to hook up to a 36 volt cart I use that particular wire lead, or use the separate 48 volt wire lead. Then I believe I need a SPDT switch which would essentially work as 36V-OFF-48V then going to the (C)common tab on the gauge. My questions are if I only used the 48V tab even on a 36V cart, I am assuming it would show 75% charge max? I cannot find what kind of ampere is associated with the voltage gauge to know whether I really need a 48V switch or if a standard 12V switch might work in this application. I have not been able to find a 48V switch that I believe will work.

Thanks for any help or input !!!

you use a voltmeter to see your voltage
you use a reducer to get 12 v out of your pack

are you asking if you can have a meter and reducer to hook up to other carts ?

a 12v fan ?

This is correct, but for the voltage meter I need to be able to switch the common wire from 36V to 48V, depending on the cart. That is what I need help with.

Maybe I'm not understanding, but if you just need a voltage meter that can read up to 48 volts, see the one at the link below.

you would just put the reducer or meter in the cart you want
no switch needed
i don't see why

you just wire the fan to 12v plug

use quick connects to make it movable

what model reducer are you using ?

The voltage reducer I am using does not have a different setting for 36V vs 48V, it works for either and only has single a +- in and +- out. Otherwise your diagram is pretty close but the voltage meter I am using has a (C) common wire which would typically go to the key switch, but I need it to switch between 36v and 48v because I will be moving it between both style carts. I uploaded a diagram in my photo gallery on this forum but it will not let me link it because I am new here.
