DPI Accusense Charger - 8x6v Batteries - Long Charge/High Heat
These are 4 year old Crown CR-235's.
I've been trying to figure out why my charging is taking +30 hours for a charge just to top off a few miles of use (one bar on the SOC meter). What's happening is the length of time and so much heat is evaporating the water from my batteries. They've been ran low a couple times not realizing the crazy fast drop in water temp. I measured SG today and they were all pretty consistent, around 1230-1265 each. Not great but no real bad cells. Voltages are all within .1v. Any suggestions? |

Were those SG readings taken 24 hours after the charge ended? If no - redo.

Ok, so I filled the cells yesterday...4 gallons of water . I just filled them 3weeks charges ago. Drove around for a mile to shake em up. Put on the charger last night at 5pm, then at 8am today, the charger is still at 15amps. Do you think I need to drive it to put some load on the water? DPI guy said let them cool for a couple hours then test SG. |

Charging raises the SG. Readings taken within 24hours of the end of charging are falsely elevated. You may have a bad battery(ies).
