Re: 1988 MAYBE?? EZGO... this will be fun
I see that your throttle cable has the ferrule on the end of the cable, but I don't see the spring slid over the cable first.
This link will show the spring on my cart. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...djustment.html It's the spring from an ink pen slid over the cable, and held in place by the ferrule. It's purpose is to hold the throttle closed long enough for the microswitches to make contact when stepping on the pedal. It prevents backfiring, and blowing out the crankshaft seals. It also provides a smoother throttle response. |

It's an insulator block.
I think it's importance depends on how you run your cart. My brother sandwiched two pieces of thin rubber together. No problem. |

Re: 1988 MAYBE?? EZGO... this will be fun
Uh oh, I run my buggy WFO a lot lol. I would suspect the insulating factor of the spacer is to help protect the bottom diaphragm in the pump? And/or perhaps to keep the fuel from vaporizing? Guess I better think about making one.....
I do like the idea of installing a fitting in the threaded hole for a hose and mount a pump else where, It would solve the heat issue and ya wouldn't be obligated to buying the more expensive stock pump. Seems a little safer to me too, Hmmmm..... Thanks CA |

I got the new pump and spacer on and she runs. Not perfectly but it does run. It hesitates to get the RPMs up and then it will rev up. It spits and sputters but atleast it's running now.

Maybe a fresh sparkplug, and wire with a heavy dose of Seafoam to clean up anything inside the engine.

I must have forgotten to give you a manual earlier. This will help you see what's going on inside.
A good carburetor cleaning may be all it needs. You have 100 psi compression, so we can eliminate that. The major issues that happen with these are... Crankshaft seals leaking. Ripped diaphragm in fuel pump. Gunk from lousy gas built up in carburetor. (All of the brass orifices need to be removed when cleaning) Weak spark. Clogged exhaust. Star with the cheap, and easy first. Clean the carburetor. |
