Default 2011 CC Precedent i2 Excel w/ADC motor speed upgrade options

Stock 2011 Club Car Precedent i2 Excel with ADC motor.

Cart PH1114

Motor EJ8-4001A

New Trojan batteries

My cart will only go 13mph and there is a frequent hesitation. This top end speed is not enough and the frequent hesitation is debilitating.

I would like to achieve 20-25mph, at that rate cars shouldn't be passing me and I can enjoy my ride without pulling over for cars to pass.

For starters, I looked into replacing the speed sensor and upgrading the speed sensor magnet. My findings on these two options seem to be incompatible with the PH* carts/Excel systems; dead end here.

I then stumbled upon a controller upgrade via the Alltrax XCT300. Is this a viable option? With this upgrade, is it true that no further modifications are needed? i.e. wire/solenoid upgrades.

Other recommendations please and thank you! Unable to find a single reliable source with a clear depiction of all my options.

Look here https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/u...ages-precedent and you will see lots of options. If it is only the speed you need,. then an Alltrax XCT will give you all you need and it the least expensive.

You are correct, a speed magnet will not work on an excel cart

I have an XCT300 and an ADC motor from a Precedent in my Club Car DS IQ. I can hit 24 mph on stock wheels & tires. No other modifications are necessary with the XCT300.

However, a top speed of 13 and the frequent hesitation indicates you have a problem that needs to be solved first, it will probably still be there after you put in the XCT300. One bonus of the XCT controllers are that you can hook up a laptop and see/log what is happening and it may help you find out what is causing the hesitation.

Your motor is capable of far more speed than you're getting now. It's being restricted by the programming in the controller. It won't allow it to go any faster than it's pre-determined programmed speed. If you're wanting 20-25 MPH, the XCT will allow your motor the freedom to run that speed. No further mods required with the XCT300. Your hesitation may be caused by a bad MCOR or a weak battery pack. If your batteries are weak you're never gonna see the results you want. Good speed numbers are dependent on a good battery pack and perfectly working components in the rest of the electrical system, such as the MCOR. I see you're new here so you may not know what an MCOR is. The Motor Controller Output Regulator is the throttle switch that communicates with the controller to regulate speed based on pedal position. When they get old and/or dirty contacts internally, they cause the throttle to surge.

Thank you! I'll check the MCOR and replace if necessary.

With the XCT controller upgrade, assuming the programmable Club Car codes (1,2,3,4) become obsolete? i.e. no need to worry about what code is active today as it will have no impact on the capable performance once the factory controller has been replaced with the XCT?

That is correct. It is all controlled by you, the End User, through the Alltrax Tool Kit.
