Does this cart have a controller?

You have a potentially dangerous situation. Jack this cart up until you figure out the problem.

It does have a controller, the solenoid clicks as soon as you turn on the key, I cleaned the induction coil under the floor board , it does respond to the accelerator being depressed but when you let off , it keeps trying to go forward, the solenoid stays engaged no matter what I do .

Did you get the controller wet?

Is the pedal returning all the way?

Yes the pedal returns completely, there is no travel left on the return motion , I'm thinking the inductor coil must be shorted or something other, the cart was partially submerged and that area got wet. The controller and f/w assembly didn't get wet by the looks of it

This happened to me once. What had happened, somehow the big resistor on the solenoid got pushed down so it was making contact across both solenoid terminals and soon as the key turned on the cart started going.

I bent the resistor back up and it fixed that.

Which flavor 36v do you have?

My first thought is that it would almost seem like there has to be TWO failures for this to happen.
