As far as I know only the FE350 and FE400 had a compression release.

Doubtful. I believe the only ones with compression release were key start machines. As far as I've ever seen, all pedal start have been non-ACR

That's what my research shows. What should compression be on this motor?

Non ACR should be 160-170psi.

Thanks. Man says he's getting only 50 or so. But, cart just stopped running, had been running fine 30 minutes earlier, and for years prior to that.

Being a 350 it might have puked a link rod.
Or might have sheared the rivets on the cam wheel.
Good time for a big block conversion...

Yeah afraid so. He said he would probably get a new cart if the motor had to come out. Looks like its gotta come out.

first, I'd pull the rocker cover and see if there are nuts on top of the rocker arms to adjust valve lash. Most have HLA's and adjust automatically, but I HAVE had FE350's that have manual adjustments.

Also possible a HLA collapsed, which would not lend itself well to running either.

If I were closer I'd be happy to look at it for him. If it happened that suddenly, theres a good chance it is something simple. Did you or he check compression? Make sure to hold the throttle wide open by hand at the carb itself. The pedal may not do it. If the throttle isnt open all the way, it cant suck in enough air, which means less.air to compress and the number will be low.
