Default Club car ds 48v motor upgrade

This is my first post, and looking for some suggestions on a 48v motor upgrade.
Its an 02 club car ds 48v. The cart has a back seat and the tires are nobby stock size. I would like a little more speed but most importantly is torque. It will be used on hilly terrain. It’s very slow going up the one big hill fully loaded. I don’t want to break the bank. Any suggestions on a quality motor upgrade?
Thanks

I personally would go with a plum quick or admiral motor. But that’s my preference.

That said, no aftermarket motor is going to do much, if anything without a controller, solenoid, and wires to support it. I’d contact Scottyb at carts unlimited or call David hicks at revolution golf cars, explain what you’re looking for and he can set you up.

Regardless of what direction you’re going to go, I’d expect to spend $1k plus for everything. And this is assuming your batteries are relatively new and in good condition. Old batteries are just going to die even faster with a bigger load on them from upgraded parts.

Electric carts are expensive to modify. But can perform great once they’re set up right. I’d recommend from experience, don’t cheap out. Get the biggest and best you can afford now. It will save you from upgrading again in the future when the bug bites and you want even more...
