battery miles calculation
Hello all,
Can someone explain the math for me.. You can find these charts all over the internet, but I'd like to know the math that was used to calculate the mileage. Assuming I had a txt48V with 6-8V batteries rated at 150AH, how do they calculate mileage from that? I'm assuming the amps are known for a txt48? Please explain because my math is way off. I think I am confused because the AH ratings vary greatly and the multiple voltage choices (6v,8v and 12v). Thanks! |

Re: battery miles calculation
Somehow the chart is not telling the whole story..
A very important part of range and distance per charge has to greatly to do with the amp hour capacity of the batteries in the pack.. A 150-160 amp hour battery will simply run out of juice before one rated at 260 amp hour....The lead plates in the 150-160 amp hour battery will be smaller than the lead plates in the 260 amp hour battery. Take a look at the chart on the 2nd page of the pdf from Crown Battery... https://www.crownbattery.com/hubfs/D...8-9a9973c0e6d2 Hope this helps.. Happy cartin' |

Re: battery miles calculation
You estimate how far your golf cart will travel on a single charge the same way you estimate how far your cart will go on a single tank of fuel. Storage capacity of tank (battery pack) multiplied by MPG (Miles per Watt-hour)
Finding the storage capacity of the battery pack is simply a matter of multiplying the battery pack voltage by the AH ratting of the batteries it is made up from. A typical 6x6V (36V) pack uses 225AH batteries, so it stores 8100WH (Watt-Hours) of energy, while a typical 6x8V (48V) pack is made up from 170AH batteries and stores 8160WH of energy, so a 6x6V-225AH pack and a 6x8V-170AH pack have roughly the same storage capacity, which in turn means a cart with 36V-225AH pack that is upgraded to a 48V-170AH pack will still have roughly the same range on a single charge. Finding how many miles your cart will travel per WH is calculated the same way as your car's MPG. Distance traveled vs fuel used. |
