Re: 2011 XRT 850 - Lithium Conversion & OBC
Jritch, will you post a current pic of your OBC and its connections to your controller? Thanks!

Re: 2011 XRT 850 - Lithium Conversion & OBC
For the Coda on this little project:
1 - 2011 XRT 850 wiring diagrams are apparently VERY rare. Still haven't found one. 2 - OBC bypass was correctly applied by shorting the blue and white wire on the cart side of the OBC harness. The OBC was left in place since I didn't have a replacement terminal end for the power gauge negative cable. 3 - The Allied 48v batteries, installed as 3 in parallel, provide just as much hill climbing power as the original, brand new 6 pack of Trojan T875's. the weight decrease was significant and the cart feels it. 4 - The Allied charger plugs into the round 3-prong Club Car receptacle and charges the pack in just a few hours from 35% SOC. 5 - The small Allied SOC meter does required about 30 minutes to stabilize between runs to reflect an accurate SOC. I've seen it show 73% SOC after a mile of up and down mild hills, then stabilize back to 100% SOC after about half an hour. 6 - All cart functions, lights, horn, back up buzzer, charging and regen braking are maintained after the lithium conversion and OBC bypass. Lessons learned: 1 - the OBC bypass cable from Allied does NOT fit into this cart. Do not purchase this if you have a cart setup like this XRT model. 2 - 3 Allied 48v batteries provide all original range and power through the original controller and motor. BUT I suggest you get a fourth battery or a 4th dummy shell battery so that the factory battery hold downs can be used without modification. 3 - Only use quality terminal ends with heat shrink jackets and install them ONLY with a quality gauging crimping tool. Don't use cheap stuff for this. Many thanks to all who responded with advice and support! Jay |
