Default 36 v EzGo Voltage on battery tray

Why am I getting voltage on the aluminum battery tray and the battery hold down rods? Anywhere from 6volts to 20volts depending where I test the voltage and which batteries.
The batteries are not leaking.

There has been enough leakage to make a high resistance connection. Very common and not that big a deal. Nothing on the cart should be connected to the frame or battery tray so it can easily pick up a leakage voltage.

I sprayed down the battery area with the garden hose for about ten minutes. Tomorrow morning I will test the same areas.

Make a strong solution of sodium bi carbonate ( baking soda works ) and spray it on the tray and battery cases. This should neutralise any acid causing the issue. Leave it on for ten minutes then rinse and dry off.
