Default when to bleed G1 oil pump?

Is it necessary to bleed the auto lube pump after replacing the carb and lines on a 1983 G1?

Best way to bleed it it to take it out, cap it off, and premix your gas.

The pump has been working so I'm not ready to do away with it yet. I just replaced the fuel pump and carb and was curious if I needed to bleed the oil pump? or shoot a little oil into the carb before I crank it up? or use premix fuel until the pump builds up pressure?

and .. what is the purpose of the line from the oil tank into the gearbox? ( I think its the gearbox) That hose on my cart is old and dry, It doesn't appear to have had any oil running through it.

The oil pump works great… until it doesn’t. You only find out that it quit working when the engine seizes or you lose compression due to scoring of the cylinder. Until that point there’s no indication that it’s working or failing.

Just my .02 but every 2 stroke I’ve owned that had an oil pump I’ve disabled it, capped off the line going to the carb or manifold, and premixed. I know 100% for sure that I Medes the fuel and what I mixed it to. I can’t say the same for a 40 year old oil pump.

Just my .02 take it how you will

I appreciate the advice but I really need an answer just for " understanding purposes" Whether or not I do away with the oil pump has nothing to do with understanding how the system works. I'll reword my question... Is it necessary to bleed the oil pump after disconnecting the lines to the carb?

There should be a screw on the pump used to bleed it, I’m not super familiar with the G1 as I’ve never owned one myself, but there are others on here that are and could probably tell you exactly what you need to do.
