New Rxv Motor Brake Won’t Unlock

Rxv brake locked up in town. I ordered a new motor brake because I’ve had issues with it in the past and thought that would fix my problem. I’ve removed the old brake and connected the new brake but haven’t mounted it on the motor. However, when I switch the cart on in tow mode, the new brake will unlock for a second and then locks up again. The batteries are only a few months old and I have tried pulling the pedals toward me. I also cleaned the plug under the cup holder to no avail. The brake does unlock completely when the procedure under the tow/run switch is performed. Thinking it could be a solenoid issue? Any help would be appreciated

Mount it on the motor and see if you still have a problem.

It just seems odd to me since I’ve replaced the brake before in the past. Usually I will turn the cart on in tow mode and that unlocks the brake so I can align it with the motor lug. In order to attach it to the motor now I would have to use the procedure under the tow/run switch in order to unlock the brake so it can be aligned. Cart has the Curtis controller fyi

The solenoid is bad.

If it is not on the motor then the startup procedure will fail. Put it on the motor shaft and just roll the cart until the screw holes line up.

That’s what I was thinking. Cart has the TROMBETTA 36V 684-3641-012-26 but I only see the TROMBETTA 684-3641-012-28 for sale online. Would that be an acceptable replacement with no changes to the controller?

Does it still perform the startup test in tow mode. When It is in tow there is no visible rocking from the motor lug like it does in run mode. The problem with mounting the brake on the motor is that the brake disc in the actual brake is not centered and needs to be energized to be centered. When I turn the cart on I can hear the solenoid click on but then it quickly clicks back off

28 is just a newer version. Just make sure you get the same voltage coil as what you have now. Here is a link to the replacement for what you have

No. With key to N and tow mode the em brake simply release. Back and forth test will only happen in run position.
