Heavy Duty Suspension for a 1993 Marathon 2-Cycle
I have searched all over for heavy duty coil springs for my 93 2-cycle. After talking to many site sponsors I have learned that no one makes those springs. My next attempt is to replace the shocks with adjustable coil-over shocks to give me a stiffer rear suspension and about 2 inches of lift so I can put a 20" tire back there. The stock shocks are 10 1/8" fully compressed and 11 1/16" fully extended. So, I am looking for a shock the can travel from 101/8" to >11 1/8" Any suggestions? One person told me Yamahas had coil-over shocks, do you know where I can get a travel measurement for Yami shocks?
I just talked to Ken at Jake's Lift Kits and their long travel shock is 17", too long. He says the Heavy Duty Yamaha shocks are long too. So, Any ideas from the auto or ATV world? As always, thanks for your knowledge and help. |

Re: Heavy Duty Suspension for a 1993 Marathon 2-Cycle
The Monroe 32207 has a collapsed length of 11-1/4",extended 17-15/16".Try this: Monroe-Gas Magnum RV-555003 L1 L1 9.625" closed, 14.750" extended, 5.125" travel. The only thing might be a clearance issue because of larger body but it should be ok.Hope this helps.

rusty shackel and pachanga90, thanks, you have been helpful. I have been looking for a coilover to replace the spring and the shock and I think the Monroe 58575 will do it for me. I am still waiting on a call from Gabriel's Tech Dept. Here is the link for the Monroe, what do you think? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=294406

Just keep in mind they are 1200lb. rated, your cart weighs 700-900lbs depending on engine,add-ons,etc.so if you have a bare-bones stock cart it will ride a little rough with just a driver.

Re: Heavy Duty Suspension for a 1993 Marathon 2-Cycle
Okay...let's say the cart is 800 (added a back seat). I weigh 280, that gets us to at least 1080 at all times, not 1200, but close. One to three more passengers would put us well over the 1200lb rating. Am I figuring this correctly? I really don't know what I am doing when it comes to load calculations and I appreciate the help. Thanks again.
