It sure would have been easier, and at the end of the day it would work correctly too. Win-win!

Essentially, yes. The only thing right with this so far is the the rear end!

You need to spend some time reading how these things work and maybe make some educated choices on how to proceed with that engine. Then, you can decide wheather or not it was a waste of time.

The way you have this set up now is like using a 4 speed transmission in 4th gear.

Again, you need to read some of the information that is already here.

Can I poke in? It may be that you can find a cart clutch cheap and make it fit
it may run for you. You have a transmission in the engine?
You will have to find a clutch that fits your engine.
If it works you can say I did it, if not you tried.

Would this work if he worked out the ratio in the rear and replaced both pulleys with the correct size to get the rear turning faster. He has it set up with a granny gear now (super low). Just asking.

ok, what you are doing is not a waste of your time. it is the first step in a learning process. just attemting this is a nice step. there is a alot good info in the big block section. many people are more than willing to help you. look at some builds on that forum-from mild to wild. you can do it.

No one here wants to see this guy fail, and everyone here has given CORRECT advice. pineypowerwpww, you have stumbled upon the most dynamic golf cart resource in the world, and you need to understand that we are all about doing it right, not half baked. It's difficult for guys who have the knowledge, who have already performed the big block transplants, to take it down a notch and recognize where YOU are with YOUR build. In other words, they aren't satisfied with anything less than "real nice". This is not their fault, and later on in your build you will appreciate their willingness to share the knowledge.

Cuz that's how we roll.....

Not quite true with the belt so low in the driven clutch it is almost
1 to 1 at this time. gear selections are limited for carts.

Piney, what is the size of your out put shaft?
