Re: TXT Stopped Working
Took a quick look at the DCS schematic, T-shooting guide etc.
Ironically, what I said about not getting B+ at controller is valid. If you are not getting something very close to the same voltage you measured across the battery at B+ on the controller, something is wrong between B+ on the Battery and B+ on the controller and needs to be fixed before going further. Granted, some of the subsequent voltage measurement on page E-5 (In the correct manual this time ) will be valid, but I subscribe to fixing problem as I find them and no voltage at B+ on the controller is definitely a problem. The file called DCS.PDF in the top Sticky is one of the best T-shooting guides I've see. It shows where to measure, what to expect and the current path. Take a look if you haven't already downloaded it. I'm so sorry for any confusion I may have caused. John |

Re: TXT Stopped Working
John, dont worry, you've helped, any chance of a phone call? You can pm me your number, I do have a color printout testing procedures for dcs machines, I'm going to see if it is what you are talking about.
Thanks John, Brian |

Re: TXT Stopped Working
Looks like the resistor/diode board is bad, any idea how to test a board?

Re: TXT Stopped Working
Been AWOL from the keyboard - SWMBO beckoned and I complied.
How to troubleshoot the Resistor/Diode board. Disconnect it from the solenoid. Remember which way it came off, the diode is polarized. Using an Ohmmeter, measure from one terminal connection to the other. Reverse Ohmmeter leads and measure again. One way should read about 250 ohms (Or whatever the resistor is marked) The other way, Zero Ohms, or almost Zero Ohms. You might luck out with just a bad resistor. For a quick smoke test if the original resistor tested bad, you could pick up a 250 Ohm 5 Watt resistor at Radio Shack and clip it across the resistor on the board. If it gets too hot to touch, the controller is probably bad. BTW, I was born in Sparta, which is about 20 miles south of Cookville. |

Re: TXT Stopped Working
John, I did remove board, tested resistor and diodes, resistor read .252 either way, the diodes read .252 either way as well, so I know the diodes are no good. I talked to Scotty and I tried my cart without the board and still no luck so I/we came to the conclusion it is the controller that died. I live right off of I-81 just off exit 36, I own 73 beautiful mountain acres. Wish I could rebuild the controller, But I guess know I will build me a torque monster for these mountains.
Thank you very very much for all your help, if your ever in the area look me up, I'd love to meet you. Brian |
