Default Battery Charge Question

In the process of installing a new controller, darkness have finally won out (trying to do this at the campground). My questions is can I charge my batteries without the controller and solenoid wires hooked to the battery pack, if I just hook up the white and black wire from the charging port on the cart.

I just bought six new batterys and a new controler for my 1998 ez go TXT. It seems to run fine. I pluged in my charger and the little meter seems to be going down instead of the numbers going up. Does anyone know anything about this? This is the first time to use the charger that came with the cart.

I think you are referring to the charging amps, this is normal, it will start somewhere between 20 and 30 and slowly go down to 0 as the charge finishes. The total charge time will depend on how run down the batteries are. Hope this helps.
