Any Engine can fit. It all depends on what you want and what you're willing to spend.

I agree. The 3pg motor that is probably in it is available on eBay for $3-400 and ur checkbook is the only limitation after that. Just depends what ur after and what u want to do with it.

Around the same price for a rebuild, no?
I have a 77 Marathon that is locked up due to water in the bottom end, bearings were
seized
Not really that expensive, or difficult to rebuild, especially with the help from
this forum. I would rather do that than buy a used one you haven't heard run,
this way you know what you have.

Yes that is another option Kelto. And in the same ballpark for cost. Again depends what he wants and what his mechanical abilities are.

You should also remember that the cart reverses by starting the engine in reverse and you can only do that with a 2 stroke. If you don't care about reverse then you could fit a wide range of engines however a target price for a complete rebuild kit for your 3PG is < $400.

Default I just figured out, do not use smart phone to shop ebay

LOL
I saw $450 and could not see what was included in the price

I just took a bite of a cookie and now I am cleaning the cookie off my monitor LOL
I almost choked on that price\

as far as mechanical abilities, I used to be a gear head, built 55 chevy, 64 chevell and 69 Z28 and stopped going fast-

Mental ability is there, but physical ability is no longer there, one too many rugby games, one too many going through windshields, and too much tending bar- shoulders and chest are shot

I now have to depend on my Son or neighbor for big things- lifting sucks- I was making new battery cables for my Bad Boy Buggy yesterday and my Good Guy Neighbor asked if he could cut the last 3 or 4, he could hear the popping my shoulder was making and it grossed him out lol

thanks for the help- If I find a ezgo 4cycle motor will it work?

Its a conversion to go to 4 cycle...and as Dave said it you do you will lose your reverse unless you switch out the whole rearend with one from a 4 cycle cart as well. If you don't want reverse then have at it. In my opinion if your wanting the easiest route, then a rebuilt 3pg swapout would be the way to go with the least amount of work and time involved. Thats just my opinion but there are way smarter cart guys out there then I. Good luck bud!
