That's great advice there. Also the link with Gorno's pics is awesome!

I will attempt this week. When people refer to the sealeant they use for a gasket, they refer to something with 3 letters ? rxt? rxv?

whatever it is , can someone post a picture of the stuff or tell me the brand etc?

TIA

RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) Silicone.

It comes in various colors and properties.
I used the blue stuff shown here: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=193913_0_0_

Yeah....that's "the stuff" that my B-I-L had me pick up. I wanted to get it in Fluorescent Orange 'cause it's my hunting buggy.....but they don't make it in that color. Then my next choice was naturally cammo. After that question was ask....the store manager summarily tossed me out of the store.

I didn't feel very welcome after that.

I tried pumping some gear oil in the plug on the gear box. I pumped some until it started to run out, then closed the plug.

Then I went for a test drive, and I had no brakes. So I took off the wheel and drum ( I just put new brakes on), and found gear oil all over the brake shoes. So I wiped the shoes and drum dry. Then took off the other wheel and same thing , So I had to dry off those shoes and drum.

Went for a drive and the rakes are working again ( for now).

My question, is why did the oil leak thru to the brakes? I recently changed the axle bearings and seals. does this leak to the brake area mean I did not get the seals seated properly? Did I damage the new seals? Both of them ( hard to believe)?

Will it leak again?
