Default Marathon Throttle Issue

I have a Marathon series cart that I converted from 36v to 48v about 4 years ago. I used a Logisystems controller. It worked perfectly until recently. Now, as soon as you touch the accelerator pedal it wants to hit full throttle. I originally thought it was the pot box going bad, but now I think it's the controller. I pulled the white and black wires off the controller to test the ohms (0-5). I forgot to turn off the key and as soon as I hit the throttle the cart took off. Without the pot box attached to the controller, should it do that? I eventually tested the pot box and it seems to be working right (although the ohms did go higher than 5, it did so smoothly).

If I need a new controller, what do you recommend since Logisystems seems to be out of business?

Is there something else I should check before dropping the cash on a new controller?

The cart should not run without the pot box being connected! I had a Curtis controller do the same thing. I won't swear the controller is bad, but you may be able to look up a testing procedure for it.
