2010 G29 Drive 48v charger dead after storm
We had a big storm yesterday evening. The Drives charger was plugged in a garage GFCI outlet. I found the GFCI tripped after noticing no lights on the charger. I unplugged charger, reset GFCI and it tripped as soon as I plugged in the charger.
I don't suspect there are any user serviceable parts inside the charger? |

Did you try another plug that's not the GFCI that keeps tripping. Did you dry out the charger before trying it

Re: 2010 G29 Drive 48v charger dead after storm
I plugged in a heat gun into the GFCI outlet to make sure the outlet wasn't damaged by the storm. The heat gun worked fine in the same outlet. I did use compressed air to dry the chargers main board.
I did a pretty good job because I took the top off the charger first and dried it thoughly. Plugged it back in to the GFCI outlet trips the outlet instintly. The charger only got slightly wet from blowing rain because it was under a carport. I may use my heatgun on the chargers board or set the charger out in the sun to really dry it out but I don't think it will come back to life. We will see. |

I dried the charger thoroughly with a heat gun till the circuit board was very warm. Tested charger and it worked again. My day is finally looking up.

I'm feeling lucky now, maybe I should buy a lottery ticket?

Sweet, you got off easy, i would have recommended harvesting the fan & a few other bits, then recycling that charger for its aluminum value-> get dpi... In my opinion, the only worse charger is the RXV delta-q QE charger...you got lucky, this time. Consider that charger "on borrowed time", it was when it was new.
