Default 08 Drive Charger

Have a charger in our fleet that just quit working. Plugged another charger into the same cart and worked fine. When you plug in the faulty charger all the lights turn on for a second and the they all shut off. No red light or anything. Is the charger junk or is there something I can actually fix.

Which charger is this? The one I have that came with my 2012 is prone to failure. I took one failed one apart and the big electrolytic caps had failed. Swelled and leaked. I replaced them and the charger works. Not that easy unless you are handy with a soldering iron. I think these caps are a bit under rated for current.

I don't know what you would call it but the charger is metallic silver. It came with the cart from the factory. It's only about six inches tall and 18 inches long.

That is the same one I have. If you ask Yamaha they will tell you it can't be repaired or serviced. I fixed mine myself but I am an EE and I know what I am doing with a soldering iron.

Take it apart (Easy) and see if the big caps look swollen or ruptured. If so, it may be reasonably easy fix. Those caps are not that expensive. Just make sure you replace them with equal or greater spec caps. (Voltage and current rating as well as uF)
