Electric heater

I want some heat in my electric car and was looking at a 48 volt electric golf cart heater, two settings, low 250 watts and high 500 watts. My question is with a nominal pack voltage of 96 volts, can I hook the 48 volt heater up to half the car's battery pack?

Yes, but swap out the 48 v occasionally to keep your batteries equalized. Its like running 12v off of only two batteries, you will drain them quickly and thus drain the whole pack for longevity. Being a heater I'm sure it will pull more from the batteries than lights.
I read my own response and it doesn't sound right. But yes, technically you can hook the 48v heat to half of your 96v pack, but you will draw down those batteries faster than the others.

Could run 2, 1/2 pack to timer that does the switch say every 10 min automatically.

i have no exp with the elect heaters. i do have one of those propane jobs in my gas cart. I can say with the cover on in the winter it does a nice job of keeping it comfortable in there in below freezing temps.

500W will draw more than 10 amps from a 48V pack and is not much heat for a car. The propane heater that 4vertical is talking about will be much more comfortable and cheap if you fill your own small bottles.

In my opinion.

I have the heater here so yesterday went ahead and installed it. While no camp fire it seems to do well at taking the chill out of the air.
