Just my .02 but even if that engine runs, it still ain’t right. Think I’d just call that one a loss, it’s probably worth more in spare parts than as an engine. Especially if salt water got inside it at all

No water ever got high enough to enter the engine, it was just that it sat in the salt water many times.

Oof

Looks like a lot of the ford trucks I see bouncing down the road here like the frame is structurally made from overcooked spaghetti

For some reason it’s always ford f250 and f350. The back of the cab all dented in from where the bed bounces into it

It's got to be something about the specific metallurgy Yamaha was using. We have had several local campground customers wanting us to look out for old Yami's with good frame they could transplant their good engine into. Yes, we're in the rust belt, but a long way from salt water.

It’s gotta be the salt in general. Unless it happened after the G2/G9 years? I’ve had several of those and the only rust I’ve ever had was that one frame rail right under the battery on a couple of them. The rest of the frame was perfect. Even had one we had to pull out of the hole it had sunk into after sitting there for probably 10 years. Cart was disgustingly filthy but after getting it cleaned up the frame was still perfect. That one even ran great with fresh gas and a carb clean.

Replace the angle with a thicker piece of flat steel, and I think you'd be OK...

Gonna try these sway bar end link bushings to use as cheap motor mounts. The kit came with 8 bushings and washers. It was only 15 bucks and in stock at the local parts store.
The metal angle on the engine was just under an 1/8th inch thickness.

The only word of caution I might add into the discussion - dissimilar metals. If that was galvanized angle - the zinc and al will make a hell of a battery, and corrode even faster. If you can find a chunk of al angle, might be able to make the angle more of the sacrifical metal vs. the block. Good Luck !

This is all just temporary, to assemble the cart and test the engine and rear differential/transmission for operation.
