![]() I have a 93 marathon with a 350 cc robin in it. I just replaced the pistons and rings as well as all the gasket and seal in it. The engine has no problem until it's under heavy strain that's when a little bit of white smoke starts coming out the muffler . What dou yall think? Any ideas

![]() The white smoke is oil, how it's getting there is the question. it could be left over in the muffler from the orignal problem that caused the rebuild. I'd run it a while and keep an eye on the oil and see if it's using any. You may have to much in it which is compounding the issue but normally when it does this from to much oil it likes to burn more blue-ish. did you hone the cylinders when you replaced the rings?

![]() No I don't believe so . My dad pretty much took apart the motor the only problem was a broken rod. Just in case we replaced both rods , rings and pistons. The cylinder didn't have a scatch on it. I've been checking the oil periodically. The motor is leaking a little bit from the drain plug , I plan on relaxing the plug this week. The dip stick says the oil is on the is right on the mark on the high side. This was my uncles cart till he broke the rod and I inherittes it. My guess is he ran it without oil because when I got it was bone dry. It only blows the smoke when it's on a steep hill and straining other than than it will run great.

![]() If the cylinder weren't honed than this is most likey the problem. The rings don't seat, lets oil bypass them.

look at section D-1, there's some pics down below that also. basically you need to to break up the glazing on the cylinder walls for the new rings to seat. |

![]() Is there anything I can do to fix this without taking it all apart again? Or must I take it all apart again.
