OK so I could not stand it I went back and started troubleshooting again. I found the problem but I'm not sure what the issue is. On the charging receptacle there is a small wire that leads to a black piece and and comes out with a white wire that leads to the FNR. I was not getting any voltage to from this wire so I bypassed the black piece and the cart starting to engage. I am so happy now. What is this piece and how or do I need to replace it?

That is the infamous Reed switch. A high failure item.
What it is supposed to do is disable cart when the charger is plugged in so someone doesn't drive away dragging the charger with them.
What it also does is fail at the most inopportune time, like when you are out in the middle of nowhere.

In later models, EZGO bypassed the Reed switch.

Connect the red wire that the small white wire from the charger port connects to, to the main positive terminal on battery pack, or someplace else that has B+ on it all the time.

JohnnieB i think I need a circuit board 19950G2 or 19460G1 When I got the charger the relay wires were jumped together and would only work using the timer. After hooking back to the relay, the charger would i]only stay on a few minutes before shutting off the batt bank was 32v

There may be one or more bad batteries in that 36V pack, if so the charger may not act normally.

What are the individual battery voltages?

I don't know if those control boards are still available.

You might be able to retrofit a more modern control board into it, one with a built in back-up timer and bypass the mechanical timer.

In all honesty, it is time to get a modern charger rather than using a 50+ year old design.
