Yes, its two main solenoids put together. NO, you still need the singe main solenoid

yes, that is two line contactors put together to make a reversing contactor, there are "true" reversing contactors, that a purpose built for that, but are usually a lot more money, and may not have such a high amp rating

Funny thread right there I don't care who you are - what a bunch of characters

I'll post my install diagrams here for ya'll so we can see that the Reversing contactor simply does the directional changing and a main contactor is still needed. There are still the same 13 cables used in the series system. with the reversing contactor (officially referred to as an R/C from now on because I'm tired of typing _ _ _ _ you know)

The second sheet of instructions show your cart cables with a number on each cable so all you have to do is move cable 4 from rotary position shown to R/C position shown.

I hope this helps

Is this available in 36 and 48V, or does the set operate on both

After reading this thread, I almost wish I had a series cart so I could install one of these neat gadgets.

Seriously though, it does solve the F/R issues if you want to stuff an 8 X 6V battery pack under the seat.
You'd still have to relocate controller, but by putting controller and R/C in space above motor, you can use shorter high current cables.

I'll make you a deal on a R/C and a series cart to go around it, Johnnie

At this time we have been advised to not under or over volt the magnetic coils.
So they are available in 36 or 48 volts. This may change.

Best I can tell, the 36 or 48 volts are only applied momentarily, when changing directions, correct? If so, one "could" employ a burden resistor and use a 36 volt contactor if they upgraded to 48.

Just thinkin' here. Definitely go with ScottyB's recommendations.

EDIT: I guess my question is whether the SPDT switch is momentary.
