How do you reliably compare motors?

I'm interested in setting my Toyota pickup truck for neighborhood and local driving. I'm looking for a large new EV motor that will give the best bang for the buck on 48 volts with a Logisystems 700 amp controller and 8 6 volt batteries. The purpose for it is I want a practical and easy maintenance neighborhood electric truck to drive to school.
There's all these different motors out there and the information and even ratings vary depending on who is selling them. How do you reliably compare motors? I bought my L91-4003 ADC motor that is in my Honda wagon thinking that it was plenty big enough for the car but it turned out to be almost undersized.

Would any of these motors work good for my truck?

One more question I was wondering about, how do 8 6 volt batteries in series compare to 12 8 volt batteries paralleled for a total of 48 volts as far as range is concerned? Should they be about equal? Thanks

How do you compare motors? Excellent question, I'll let you know when I have the answer...

This is what it seems like anyway with all the different ways to rate an electric motor. Let me get back to you after I look over your links. In the mean time I don't mind hearing ideas from other people.

The problem with comparing motors is they don't give the same conditions. D&D says they are the same as the ADC motors and give no specs so we have to look at ADC's specs and assume the D&D motor will have the same characteristics. The two ADC motors are at different voltages and one doesn't even give the torque numbers. The only thing we do learn from these spec sheets is the continuous output increase with voltage. Notice the time they give for each rating, the rating is based on amperage not voltage but then we already knew traction motors were current devices.

So which motor would be best for Xtreme's truck? We don't have enough information to make this decision yet.

Xtreme, if you call ask for data on several motors.

Volts and amps vs. torque and RPM
Keep in mind the simple objective, what are we trying to achieve?
You want the most torque out for the least amount of energy in weighed against cost.

make sure you ask if the rpm and hp ratings are continuous ratings or peak ratings..

some rate at continuous, which gives a more modest reading.

some at peak which makes it sound better, but not actually be any better.

The battery issue is more weight with the 12 volts. The weight would off set the gain so I would think 2 sets of 6 volts would work better.
