![]() Hello all, I am having a porblem with my 98 EZ GO cart. I recently adjusted the valves and changed the oil. Everything was running fine until it ran out of gas and left my wife stranded on the side of the road. She walked to her mothers house to get some gas. He stepdad gave her about a gallon and told her it may be old gas and may have water in it. It may just be a coincidence that its acting up now or it may be because of the gas. The cart starts fine but after it warms up the cart doesnt want to move. It starts rolling very slowly and can take up to a minute to get moving. Once its going its fine just getting it going is difficult. I stopped at a stop sign and when I pulled out it was so sluggish that I almost got hit by a car. I did a compression test and one cylinder does seem a bit low at 125psi, the other is 150. Like I said once I get it going it runs fine so I dont think it is the motor. Could the clutch be the problem? I really need to get this thing running right before next weekend. There is a big festival in town and I have some friends coming into town. Also the cart is going to be in the parade so getting it running right is a priority. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

![]() Try putting the cart in neutral and running the engine, does it rev up normally without a load?
Do you see the clutches cycling in and out as you rev it? You can also roll the drive belt off and run the engine without it to check throttle response. Put the cart in neutral also and push it to see that your brakes are not dragging. |

![]() Yes the motor does rev fine. I can see the front clutch engage but I can hold the golf cart with one arm and push the gas all the way to the floor and hold the cart in place. Could it be a bad clutch, and if so which one? Front or rear?

![]() So tell me what it does.
does the motor rev up when in forward? do both clutches turn when you rev it up and the cart sits there? Or does the motor bog from trying to turn the rear clutch? |

![]() In neutral the motor revs fine and both clutches open, but when I put it in gear it takes a while for the front clutch to open almost like the engine isnt building up enough power and when it does finally engage, like you said the motor bogs trying to turn the rear clutch. Eventually it gets going but until it builds up speed the cart just crawls. Any ideas?
