![]() Anyone know the years that may have compatible parts?
Almost certain it's the rack and pinion. |

![]() Thanks Dave.
Gotta get it apart and see the damage. Then get the stuff. Except for the steering play, the cart is in great shape, It has good Trojan T-605 batteries that hold a charge of 38.1v and has always been "garaged". ![]() I just bought this thing (cheap) to take my aged Mom around. She has problems walking. So far she loves the ride. Took her to the local tavern yesterday afternoon and she chose to stay sitting comfortably in the cart out on the patio with friends while I went in and got the beer. and chicken gizzards. She's still a smoker @ 91. ![]() |

![]() Gary, I just got done taking the "foot of play" out of my steering. Little bit of elbow grease & an old 7/16 bolt. Yours may just be worn but when I took my 86 Marathon rack & pinion apart I found the gears were almost new looking. Upon further inspection I found the pressed in 7/16 shaft that the reduction gear rides on had come loose, dropped down in the hole it's pressed into & was only supported on one end. The end result was the gear could move around considerably & caused the large amount of play. To repair mine I grabbed an old 7/16 bolt & turned the head down on the lathe & cut it to length so it will rest against the floorboard in my cart & keep the reduction gear shaft held in position. It didn't need to be turned down in the lathe, I just wanted it to look nice. Attached is a pic of mine. The large silver circle is the bolt I added. I hope this helps if yours has the same issue mine did.
