![]() I think this is the answer to why my cart isnt working. I tried testing the Solenoid with My analog multimeter. in the picture, do the two bolts (the big ones) that I put it to suppose to conduct on a good solenoid? It doesn't conduct on mine.

![]() The 2 big posts "conduct" only when the solenoid is activated.
If, while your solenoid is setting there as you have it in the photo, if you use clip leads from your battery pack to the 2 small post, that will energize your solenoid just like in the cart. When it is energized, or after the click, the 2 large post become a closed switch (or shorted together) to carry current. A Good Solenoid, when closed, is completing a circuit so that the voltage is carried to the motor. There are 3 types of bad solenoids: 1> The solenoid energizes (You hear it click) and it does not pass voltage from one large post to the other. The cart does not move. Hence, just because you heare it click dosent necessarily mean it is working. Only the coil and plunger works. 2> The solenoid energizes (You hear it click) and it moves the cart but at a slower speed. The solenoid switch part is burned up and barely making contact, not allowing the full current to pass through the large posts. It will usually heat up. 3> The solenoid does not energize (or click) when voltage is applied. The electromagnetic coil that forces the plunger to move is open. (Open circuits do not do anything) |
